Tag philosophy
Automated Tagging & Scoping
Apply a tagging philosophy to scraped and imported tags: equipment types, descriptions, and which tagging procedure the tag follows.
- KKS
- ISA 5.1
- RDS-PP
- TIA-606
- CSI
- ISO 81346
- DC Functional
Scraping finds the characters on the sheet. This page is the philosophy that makes those characters useful. Auto-description reads the tag number against industry parsers and, where it can, fills a description and suggests system, subsystem, and equipment type.
Auto mode tries the libraries we ship and can pick a dominant standard across a spreadsheet. You can also lock to KKS, ISA 5.1, RDS-PP, TIA-606, CSI, ISO 81346, or DC Functional — or turn it off. It is productivity assistance with engineering sign-off still on you, not a claim that every tag is certified correct.
Philosophy, not just a pattern mask
A pattern says how many letters and digits. A standard says what those letters mean. KKS system and equipment codes, ISA 5.1 instrument letters, RDS-PP function and location segments, TIA-606 grid identifiers — each parser writes a description a completions team can actually read.
What it does
- ✓Auto-fill tag descriptions from the structure of the tag number
- ✓Detect whether a tag follows Auto, ISA 5.1, KKS, RDS-PP, TIA-606, CSI, or ISO 81346
- ✓Suggest system and subsystem when those columns are blank and the standard supports it
- ✓Map KKS-style tags onto equipment type and subtype from bundled code tables
- ✓Use drawing title and type from scrape to refine electrical and mechanical sheet context
- ✓Lock to one standard, run Auto, or turn detection off per session
- ✓Works fully offline — KKS tables are bundled, no lookup service required
- ✓Applies after both PDF scrape and CSV/Excel import in the same review table
- ✓Line and pipe identity is recognised before letter-standard parsers run
Highlights
- • Seven parser-backed naming standards plus project-learned codes
- • Auto can pick a dominant standard on a bulk import
- • Descriptions and hierarchy suggestions stay editable in review
- • Engineering judgement still signs the register off
