Project data
Core foundation
Import Engine
The project-definition import that blends spreadsheet tags, test procedures, and procedure steps into execution-ready data — alongside drawing scrape, not instead of it.
Not every tag lives on a drawing. Completions teams arrive with master tag lists, ITR registers, and step sheets in CSV or Excel. The import engine is the other half of Prep Workbench: map columns, validate against the project, and commit tags, hierarchies, procedures, and steps in one pass.
You can run import in the same session as tag scraping. Spreadsheet rows and drawing extracts meet in the same review table, so the baseline you confirm is already matched rather than reconciled later in a third tool.
Map the spreadsheet you already have
Pick the header row, map columns to tag fields, hierarchy types, labels, and attributes — or switch the import kind to procedures or steps. Common ITR and tag headers are recognised so you are not starting from a blank mapping every time.
Review against the live register
Imported rows are compared to what already exists. New, modified, and error states sit in one table so you can edit, drop duplicates, and fill missing descriptions before Confirm. Hierarchies discovered in the file are flagged new versus existing on the Tag Space tab.
Procedures come in on the same pass
If the workbook is steps rather than a metadata sheet, Review still builds a distinct procedure list. Each row is New on upload, already in the database with matching steps, or in the database with a mismatch you can override before Confirm & Upload.
Attributes arrive typed, then you group them
Columns that are not tag, description, or hierarchy become typed attribute keys. Review lists each key with a type and a count so you can group them before they land on the register — groups are empty here until you type or select one.
What it does
- ✓Import tags, hierarchies, labels, and typed attributes from CSV or Excel, including multi-sheet workbooks
- ✓Import procedure metadata and procedure steps as separate spreadsheet modes
- ✓Auto-map columns from header names — tag, description, ITR, hierarchy types, labels, and attributes
- ✓Validate names and descriptions, then compare each row to the live register: new, exists, modified, or error
- ✓Link each tag to the most specific hierarchy in its chain rather than duplicating parent and child
- ✓Cleanup tools for trim, fill descriptions, and remove duplicates before commit
- ✓Merge multiple import files in one Prep session with procedure and step de-duplication
- ✓Apply the same auto-description and scoping rules used after drawing scrape
- ✓Review new versus existing hierarchies on a Tag Space tab before they are created
- ✓Commit a traceable baseline: tags, procedures, steps, and source-file references together
Highlights
- • Tags, procedures, and steps share one import path
- • Column mapping is suggested from headers, then editable
- • Review against the database before anything is created
- • Works in the same Prep session as PDF scrape
